He immigrated on 24 Sep 1737 to Philadelphia.⁽⁸⁸⁹⁰⁾ Arrived on the ship "Virtuous Grace" with his mother Veronica and three brothers. His father had died prior to emigrating to America. He signed a will on 30 Dec 1766 in Lancaster Co., Pa..⁽⁸⁸⁹¹⁾ He died in Jan 1767 in Warwick Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa..⁽⁸⁸⁹²⁾ Place of burial unknown, but possibly in a homestead cemetery.

In the Slabaugh book on page 85, it states that John died in Jan 1761. However, on page 84 it states that John signed his will on 30 Dec 1766 and the will was probated on 16 Jan 1767. It is then assumed that the 1761 year was a typographical error and the correct year was 1767. Hans Stauffer immigrated in 1710, so it may be been sometime between father Daniel's first wife and his second wife, Veronica. It is possible that Matthias may not be Veronica's son.
