bullet Rachel Cecilia RORABAUGH (8068) (8069)(8070) was born on 26 Feb 1850 in Woodbury Twp., Blair Co., Pa..(8071) (8072) (8073)(8074) She resided between 1880 and 1905 in Roanoke, VA.(8075) She resided 1814 Sixth Ave. on 9 Jun 1880 in Altoona, Blair Co., Pa.. (8076) She resided in 1904/5 in Baltimore, Md..(8077) (8078) From Hickey - O'Neill Mortuary records. Needs clarification (listed as "Rsd.")
Obituary of husband, Thomas R. Davis, indicates that they lived in Baltimore at the time of her death. She died on 17 Aug 1905. (8079)(8080) The obituary of her husband, Thomas R. Davis, states that her date of death was August 18, 1904. Now that it is known that she died in Baltimore, a death certificate may possible be obtained. She was buried on 19 Aug 1905 in Fairview Cemetery, Blair Co., Altoona, PA.(8081) (8082) Record shows that she died and was interred the same day, but it is more likely that she died on 17 Aug. and was buried 19 Aug. 1905.

bullet ---- SAVERCOLL (?) The existence of a second spouse is purely assumption based on the obituary of her son, Joseph H. Robinson. In it, it states that Joseph had a half-sister Mrs. Bessie Stough and a half-brother, Benjamin Savercoll. If the second spouse had been married to Susan's husband Edward, then you would have expected the male half-brother to also have been surnamed Robinson.

He was married to Susan ROBISON. (8125) Children were: Bessie SAVERCOLL (?) , Benjamin SAVERCOLL (?).

bullet Benjamin SAVERCOLL (?)(8126) resided on 22 May 1949 in California.(8127) The existence of a second spouse is purely assumption based on the obituary of her son, Joseph H. Robinson. If the second spouse had been married to Susan's husband Edward, then you would have expected the male half-brother to also have been surnamed Robinson.

This then would require confirmation as to the correct parents of this person and the order in which they were born. Parents: ---- SAVERCOLL (?) and Susan ROBISON.

bullet Anna SCHENCK was born about 1732 in WarwickTwp., Lancaster Co., Pa.. (8133)(8134) A break from 1721 when the second child was born and 1737 when the fourth child was born and considering Anna Bar Shank's age might indicate that she was not the mother of all of Michael Shank's children. Parents: Michael SCHENCK and Anna BAER.

bullet Anna Maria SCHENCK was born about 1726 in Elizabeth Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa.. (8135)(8136) A break from 1721 when the second child was born and 1737 when the fourth child was born and considering Anna Bar Shank's age might indicate that she was not the mother of all of Michael Shank's children. Parents: Michael SCHENCK and Anna BAER.

She was married to John GROFF.(8137)

bullet Barbara SCHENCK was born about 1725 in Warwick Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa.. (8138)(8139) A break from 1721 when the second child was born and 1737 when the fourth child was born and considering Anna Bar Shank's age might indicate that she was not the mother of all of Michael Shank's children.

The LDS database appears to be more accurate and differs from the Slabaugh record. Parents: Michael SCHENCK and Anna BAER.

bullet Catherine SCHENCK was born in Apr 1720 in Conestoga Manor, Lancaster Co., Pa.. (8140) May have lived on 424 acre property shared by father Michael and uncle Henry Bar along the Conestoga Creek (Conestoga Twp.) within present-day boundaries of the city of Lancaster. She was buried in 1760 in Lancaster Co., Pa..(8141) She died on 29 Nov 1760 in Warwick Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa.. (8142)(8143) Place of burial unknown, but possibly a homestead cemetery. Nearby Hammer Creek Mennonite Church apparently does not have burials dating back that far.

Slabaugh and LDS record agrees on this one. She resided parents' home 1720 to not later than 1733 in Conestoga Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa.. (8144) She resided home of husband John Stauffer 1738 to 29 Nov 1760 in Warwick Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa..(8145) Immediately south of her parents' farm. She resided parent's home at eastern part of Elizabeth Twp. by 1733 to 1738 in Elizabeth Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa..(8146) Parents: Michael SCHENCK and Anna BAER.

She was married to John (Johannes) STAUFFER Fall 1738 in Lancaster Co., Pa..(8147) Children were: Anna Barbara STAUFFER, Elizabeth STAUFFER, Veronica STAUFFER, Christian STAUFFER, Jacob STAUFFER, Ann STAUFFER, Christina STAUFFER, Catherine STAUFFER, Eva STAUFFER, John STAUFFER, Henry STAUFFER, Marie STAUFFER, Michael STAUFFER.

bullet Elizabeth SCHENCK was born about 1724 in Elizabeth Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa.. (8148)(8149) A break from 1721 when the second child was born and 1737 when the fourth child was born and considering Anna Bar Shank's age might indicate that she was not the mother of all of Michael Shank's children.

Update: LDS database indicates Elizabeth was born in 1724 in Conestoga Twp. She died by 1763 in Lancaster Co., Pa..(8150) (8151) Parents: Michael SCHENCK and Anna BAER.

bullet John SCHENCK was born in 1722 in Conestoga Twp, Lancaster Co., Pa.. (8152)(8153) May have lived on 424 acre property shared by father Michael and uncle Henry Bar along the Conestoga Creek (Conestoga Twp.) within present-day boundaries of the city of Lancaster.

If born by 1733, must likely born as mentioned above. If born 1733 or later, may have been born in Elizabeth Township. Parents: Michael SCHENCK and Anna BAER.

He was married to Barbara ----.(8154)

bullet Martin SCHENCK was born on 30 May 1737 in Warwick Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa.. (8155)(8156) May have lived on 424 acre property shared by father Michael and uncle Henry Bar along the Conestoga Creek within present-day boundaries of the city of Lancaster.

A break from 1721 when the second child was born and 1737 when the fourth child was born and considering Anna Bar Shank's age might indicate that she was not the mother of all of Michael Shank's children.

He died on 11 Mar 1813 in Warwick Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa.. (8157)(8158) Parents: Michael SCHENCK and Anna BAER.

He was married to Anna ----.(8159)

bullet Michael SCHENCK was born in 1692 in Boeckten, Sissach Parish, Basel, Switzerland. (8160)(8161) May have been born in Hausen, southwest of Zurich, Switzerland. His wife, Anna Bar, does come from that town.

LDS compilers database state that he was born 1692 in Pfalz, Germany, and not 1688 in Switzerland as speculated by John Slabaugh.

He immigrated on 19 Sep 1717 to Pennsylvania. (8162) Not yet proven, but John Slabaugh believes that he may have arrived with the second wave of Mennonite immigrants.
He owned west of Ephrata in 1733 in Elizabeth Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa.. (8163) He signed a will on 7 Sep 1763 in Lancaster Co., Pa..(8164) He died between 7 Sep 1763 and 24 Dec 1763 in Lancaster Co., Pa.. (8165) He had an estate probated on 24 Dec 1763 in Lancaster Co., Pa..(8166) He owned 424 acres along Conestoga Creek (within future city of Lancaster) by 27 Sep 1717 in Lancaster Co., Pa..(8167) Shared land with Henry "Pare" (Bar?), the twin brother o0f wife Anna. John Slabaugh spelled this family's name as SHANK. This was changed to Schenck, more in line with the German spelling and the LDS compilers data. Slabaugh only guesses that Michael was born near Hausen, south of Zurich, Switzerland, but also states that his actual place of birth and parents are unknown.

The LDS record seems to be more accurate.

He was married to Anna BAER.(8168) This marriage must be analyzed carefully before reaching a final conclusion. Michael's oldest child was born in 1719 and the youngest in 1760. At the very least, one must weigh the span of 41 years and decide if Anna could be the mother of all ten known children. Perhaps more studies of the Bar/Bear families will lead to further evidence. Children were: Michael SCHENCK, Michael SCHENCK, Catherine SCHENCK, Elizabeth SCHENCK, Barbara SCHENCK, Anna Maria SCHENCK, Veronica (Frena) SCHENCK , Anna SCHENCK, John SCHENCK , Martin SCHENCK, Magdalena SHANK.

He was married to Maudlin ----. (8169)

He was married to Elizabeth ----.(8170)

bullet Michael SCHENCK was born about 1718 in Conestoga Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa.. He died in 1790 in Hiedleberg, Lebanon Co., Pa. (8173)(8174) May have lived on 424 acre property shared by father Michael and uncle Henry Bar. Parents: Michael SCHENCK and Anna BAER .

He was married to Anna KASEY. (8175)

LDS SCHENCK database appears to be more accurate. Parents: Michael SCHENCK and Anna BAER.
