Blair County was created on February 26, 1846 from parts of Huntingdon County and Bedford County. The county gets its name from John Blair who was a prominent citizen of the area. Two early settlers, Adam and William Holliday, are credited for the name of the county seat, Hollidaysburg, incorporated on August 10, 1836.
