Wyoming CountyWyoming County was created on April 4, 1842, from part of Luzerne County. Its name came from Pennsylvania's Wyoming Valley, derived from a Native American language, meaning "extensive meadows." The county seat of Tunkhannock was incorporated on August 8, 1841. The borough was named for the Tunkhannock Creek, a name meaning "small stream." |
