Northampton County

Northampton County was created on March 11, 1752, from part of Bucks County. It was named for Northamptonshire, England. One genealogical note on the English counterpart was that it was the home of the Earl of Pomfret, father-in-law of a member of the Penn family, Thomas Penn. Easton is the county seat and was named after the Earl's English estate. It was incorporated as a borough on September 23, 1789, and became a city on November 2, 1886.
