Mercer County

Mercer County was named for General Hugh Mercer and created on March 12, 1800, from part of Allegheny County. It was formally organized in February 1804 when it was detached from Crawford County. The county seat is Mercer, laid out in 1803, and incorporated as a borough on March 28, 1814.
