Lebanon CountyLebanon County was created on February 16, 1813, from parts of Dauphin County and Lancaster County. The name has biblical origins meaning "white mountain" with the county being named for old Lebanon Township. The county seat of Lebanon was laid out in 1750. A movement to incorporate Lebanon as a borough was attempted on March 28, 1799, but its citizens rejected incorporation. It was finally chartered as a borough on February 21, 1821, and as a city in 1885. |
